Cinnamoroll: Miyuki Okumura - KICKOMI

Cinnamoroll: Miyuki Okumura

Dowiedz się więcej →

A white puppy born on a cloud, with ears so long he can fly with them, and a tail curled like a cinnamon bun. Miyuki Okumura created him in 2001—after Sanrio rejected her first proposal. She returned with a new version and created a character who won the title of Sanrio's most popular character five times in a row, even beating Hello Kitty. Cinnamoroll appeared at a time when Japan was looking for a soothing design—calm, soft, without dramatization. The shy but friendly puppy from the café on the hill perfectly met this need. Okumura also fought for blue eyes—Sanrio warned that blue would deter female fans. She stood her ground and won. How did a rejected design become an icon? What makes Cinnamoroll work like visual therapy? And why did the blue, which was supposed to be a mistake, become his hallmark?
