Some machines became legends before we'd even managed to understand them. 1912 · Eternal Atlantic Voyager is a wooden miniature of a great Edwardian-era ocean liner — a time when engineering first believed that people could build something worthy of the ocean. Four hundred and thirty-three pieces and six hours of building reveal detail after detail: a black hull with cabin corridors running three decks deep, raked funnels, turning propellers, a luxurious first-class interior with a fireplace, mirror, and painting. Placed LED lights guide the eye across the whole structure, and everything is held together by a wooden base marked with the voyage route. Not a drop of glue — joined with mortise-and-tenon fittings, just like real carpentry.
