Da Xin — a Chinese illustrator of the '90s generation — created it in 2020 together with A Li. They weren't planning a global phenomenon. They were planning a fairy tale for adults who still have a childlike heart. Little star creatures that wake at night, gather dreams and chase away nightmares. Warm, rounded forms, a gold-and-orange palette, pyjamas and star-shaped caps. Design that doesn't try to impress — only to keep you company. In 2024 Twinkle Twinkle came to Pop Mart and became one of the fastest-growing IPs in the company's history. Limited figures reach up to 30 times their retail price on the secondary market. In Beijing a collectors' community called “Star Alliance” sprang up. And in every blind box a card with a quote awaits — because Da Xin designed not just the figures, but the feeling they leave behind.
