Cry Baby: Molly (Nisa Srikumdee) - KICKOMI

Sadness That Matters – The World of Pop Mart Cry Baby

Dowiedz się więcej →

Nisa Srikumdee — a Thai artist known as Molly Yllom — was told throughout her childhood that tears were out of place. When she lost her dog, Somchun, in 2017, she found the only way to let it out: she drew a character with big tears on its cheeks. Not a boy, not a girl — emotion in its purest form. This is how Crybaby was born. In 2021, Nisa became the first Thai artist — and the first woman — to sign a contract with Pop Mart. Today, Crybaby generates over a billion yuan annually and stands alongside Labubu and Skullpanda. Lisa from Blackpink carried it on her Louis Vuitton bag. The rest of the world followed suit. But the heart of this story remained unchanged: a figurine with tears that says it's okay to cry.
