Sonny Angel — every series and where to start. A collector's guide
A tiny naked angel with rosy cheeks, little wings on his back and one thing that changes every single time: his headgear. One day it's a bunny, the next a strawberry, then a birthday cake with candles. The face stays the same — calm, a little dreamy, completely disarming. Sonny Angel doesn't do anything spectacular. He's just there, by your side. And that's exactly why so many people keep him on their desk, perched on their monitor or stuck to their phone.
Sonny Angel was created by Toru Soeya, founder of the Japanese company Dreams Inc. — the same one behind the glow-in-the-dark Smiski. The first angels appeared in 2004, and since then there have been more than 1,300 variations. If you want to know which series actually exist, how the classic figures differ from Hippers and where to start your collection — this guide is for you.
Sonny Angel's official motto is “he may bring you happiness”. No promises. He just might.
How the Sonny Angel blind box works
Sonny Angel is sold in blind boxes — sealed, opaque boxes. The packaging shows the whole series, but you only find out which angel you got once you open it. Inside there's a figure in a foil bag and a little card showing every design in the series.
A classic series usually has 12 designs plus a hidden secret. The figures are small enough to fit in your palm and made of soft-touch vinyl. A full case holds as many boxes as there are designs, but it doesn't guarantee a complete set — duplicates happen, and the secret turns up very rarely. That's why collectors trade their doubles or pick up single figures.

Sonny Angel series, one by one
Dreams releases several new series a year, and some of them come back in new editions. The easiest way to sort them is by theme. Below is an overview of the series you'll find at Kickomi — you can add any of them straight to your cart.
Animal — the classic where it all begins
The Animal series is Sonny Angel in its purest form: an angel wearing an animal-shaped hat. It's where most people start their collection, and the series they keep coming back to. There are four editions, each with a different set of animals.
Bunny, bear, kitten, elephant — the very first animal menagerie and the best starting point for a new collection.
Hedgehog, fawn, chameleon, skunk, red panda — a woodland, storybook take on the animal series.
Another mini safari for your shelf — new animal hats, the same disarming little face.
The most well-traveled part of the series — animals from all over the globe, from a peacock to a shiba inu.
Sweets and food — angels who sneaked a dessert
Sonny Angel's second big theme is food. Cookies, ice cream, donuts, burgers, chocolate-dipped strawberries — it all ends up on the angel's head. These series look best in a group, like a tiny bakery on your shelf.
Cookies, ice cream and donuts instead of hats — a whole bakery in miniature.
Burger, shake, donut, a bottle of ketchup — fast-food angels for anyone who prefers savory to sweet.
Strawberry costumes, hearts and chocolate-dipped caps — a Valentine's series in juicy colors.
Flowers and gifts — Sonny Angel for special occasions
Sonny Angel was always meant as a small gesture for someone — a little something that says “I thought of you”. These series are made for exactly that: birthdays, flowers, a thank-you.
An angel dressed up as a cake with candles, plus a spot on the box for the birthday person's name. A ready-made birthday gift.
Angels dressed as sitting teddy bears — a warm, cuddly series for birthdays and little surprises.
Every angel tucked under a different flower — a little garden that will never wilt.
A lion angel holding a flower, with a mane made of a bouquet. Sunflower, daisy or rose — every flower means something.
Vacations and collaborations
Every now and then Sonny Angel goes away — to the beach, or into a completely different world. Seasonal series and collaborations disappear fast, so it's worth grabbing them while you can.
Suntanned, in sailor outfits and with summer tattoos — angels fresh back from vacation.
A collaboration with the Japanese beauty brand — shiny hoodies, animal hats and makeup-inspired details. Read more in Sonny Angel × shu uemura.
Hippers — the Sonny Angel that climbs
Hippers are a separate family of figures. Instead of standing on a shelf, the angel lies on his tummy or hangs on and sticks to an edge — your monitor, laptop, a photo frame or your phone case. It was Hippers on phones that turned Sonny Angel into a TikTok hit. If you want your angel always with you, not just on a shelf, start here.
Classic Hippers in animal costumes — they look like they're just climbing into your world.
The only series where the angels glance back over their shoulder. Made for the brand's 20th anniversary, in bolder colors.
Angels dozing on little clouds, in soft pastels — calm, stuck to your monitor.
Fruit and veggie hats — a tiny harvest on your fridge, flowerpot or laptop.
Cherry-blossom pink and fresh green — a spring series that brings a little sakura into everyday life.
You can always check what's currently in stock — every series, Hippers and new arrivals — in our Sonny Angel collection.
Secrets and how to spot an original
Many series hide a secret — a figure that isn't on the list of designs. Collectors estimate the odds at around 1 in 144, but Dreams doesn't publish official numbers, and in practice it depends on the series. Buying a whole case improves your chances, but guarantees nothing.
Sonny Angel is faked a lot, so it's worth knowing what to look for:
- An opaque box — originals come in sealed boxes you can't see the figure through.
- The series has to exist — you can check every official series in the Sonny Angel app. Not in the catalog? It's a fake.
- Crisp printing — text and graphics on the box with no blurring or typos, and a neatly painted face on the figure.
Every figure at Kickomi is an original, bought directly from Dreams. Read more about where we get them in Sonny Angel and Smiski straight from Dreams.
Where to start your collection
You don't have to collect Sonny Angel “to complete the set”. He works best standing or hanging wherever you spend your time. Pick a series based on where it's going to live:
- Your first one / the classic — Animal 1, where most collectors begin.
- For your phone, monitor or laptop — any Hippers, e.g. Looking Back or Dreaming.
- As a birthday gift — Birthday Gift with a spot for a name, or Birthday Bear.
- For the sweet tooth — Sweets, Snack or Strawberry Love.
- As a thank-you or “just because” — Flowers or Flower Gift.
