Genesis
Born in Hong Kong, raised in the Netherlands, settled in Belgium. Kasing Lung grew up between cultures — and it was this in-between space that became his artistic language. No consoles, no computers: just drawing and European fairy tales. The fascination with elves and folklore that began in childhood never faded. It transformed into The Monsters — one of the most recognizable universes in art toys history.
Narrative and World
Labubu, Zimomo, Tycoco, Pato — each character has a personality, a story, and a place in the forest world of The Monsters. It's not just a collection of figures. It's a separate mythology.
Aesthetics and Inspirations
Nordic and Celtic folklore filtered through a life between Asia and Europe. Not anime, not Western comics — something distinct, that cannot be pigeonholed.
Visual Language
Too wide a smile. Too sharp teeth. An expression that can't be fully deciphered. Creepy-cute unapologetically — figures that don't try to be nice. They are themselves.
Open Narrative
Labubu has no imposed plot — each collector interprets it differently. This is a deliberate choice: the figure becomes personal, not just an object.
